A little about us

Hello, My name is Barney, me and my partner Tracy have been running our 20 acre smallholding based in West Lancashire since 1985.

Our main focus is pure and rare breed poultry which we run alongside two breeds of sheep, Jacobs and Ryelands. We pride ourselves on producing hardy, quality friendly stock and we are proud members of the Ryeland Flock Book Society and the Jacob Sheep Society.

We also support our local & national poultry clubs, Southport and Ormskirk Bantam Society and the Poultry Club of Great Britain.

For bio security and work load reasons, we are not open to the public. Interested persons requiring livestock can view by appointment.
For customers requiring poultry, they can be collected from my yard by appointment.

    Sustainability

Being sustainable and self sufficient is very much at our hearts. We embody this ethos by utilising our land as best we can to create utility services and sustain the farm. The majority of our electricity comes from solar and wind power. Our heating is fuelled by bio mass willow which we cultivate onsite and we collect much rainwater for use across all the farm. We recycle anything and everything where possible.

We have our own beautiful orchard with old varieties of apples, pears, plums and damsons and we have lots of various fruit bushes and have our own veg plot, much of this we use to sustain ourselves and livestock.

Also, we have a keen interest in ornithology, wildlife and all aspects of nature. We have planted lots of hedging, trees and created a wildlife pond, creating a bio diverse environment. We like to work with nature and we don’t use any pesticides or herbicides and like to take care of our land the way mother nature intended.
